Waiting on Wednesday-Inheritance

For my Waiting on Wednesday book today I am going to show my true nerdy colors.  First off though I need to thank Breaking the Spine for hosting this meme every week.  Now onto the book.  The book is Inheritance by Christopher Paolini.  If you love fantasy like me you have probably heard of this series before.  If you have not heard of this series but have seen the movie, Eragon, do not judge this series by that.  In my opinion the movie did not due the book any kind of justice.  The only awesome feature out of that was Saphira, the dragon.  She was amazing, other than that, they changed major plot points, had some seriously cheesy dialogue and just did not do a good job.  Sorry to any out there who liked it, but that movie was a let down to me.

Okay, I am getting off track, back to this book, Inheritance, which is the final book in the series, yay!  The cover was just reveled a couple of days ago, so this post is serving double duty, cover reveal and a book I am pining for.  Here is a summary of the book from Goodreads.com:

Not so very long ago, Eragon Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagasia? And if so, at what cost?

I am so excited!  This is a series I have loved because of all the amazing fantasy elements and fantastic storyline.  What I have not loved is the wait, the last book in this series, Brisingr, came out in 2008.  That means it has been almost three years since we have had the latest installment and I am ready for the final battle.  I am just hoping the three year wait has been worth it, but I will have to wait until September to find out.  So how about you?  What books are you waiting for?

Book Review of Lemniscate by Jennifer Murgia

Title: Lemniscate

Author: Jennifer Murgia

Release Date: March 21st, 2011

Genre: Young Adult Paranormal

*If you have not read Angel Star this may contain spoilers*

For Teagan, these last few months have been heaven on earth- especially now that Garreth, her boyfriend and guardian angel, is earthbound. But perhaps Garreth is becoming a little more human than either of them expected.
Now, Teagan must realize that her world is once again about to shift, as she questions the faith she held in others against those once considered enemies.
In this continuation of Angel Star, Lemniscate will draw you even deeper into the world of dark and light as Teagan realizes the angel who could possibly save them all is the one angel she feared the most.

Summary from Goodreads.com

My Review: Lemniscate is the sequel to Angel Star (review here) which I loved, so I was very excited to dive back into this world again. We pick up pretty much right where Angel Star left off with Teagan and Garreth trying to adjust to everyday life together. Now that Garreth is on Earth full time Teagan is soaking up every moment with him. That time does get interrupted quite frequently with her mom’s new love interest and his step daughter, Brynn, who’s goal in life seems to be ruining Teagan’s. Teagan is trying to make the best of the situation but Brynn is not making it easy on her.

As Teagan’s life begins to unravel we do get to delve into the lore behind angels and what role Teagan plays in their world. She is still not quite convinced of her power and this book puts her strength to the test and then some. With the loss of Claire still haunting her Teagan is determined to keep everyone in her life safe and often puts their needs before her own. While an admirable quality to posses, it does put her happiness on the back burner and my heart went out to her numerous times when her life seemed to be crumbling around her.

I will admit that in the middle of the book Garreth was getting some evil glares from me. I think he let his new found humanity seep in a little too much and a moody teanage boy took over the body of the angel for awhile. Needless to say, I was not a fan. The reason for his mood swings is explained to you in the book and it makes sense, I just wanted to smack some sense into him at some points. But sometimes certain events are necessary and people need to struggle through life before they truly know who they are.

The surprising part to this little plot twist was how Hadrian really started to worm his way into my heart. I did not see that coming at all. I thought my name was permanently under the Team Garreth banner, but what is that expression about actions speaking louder than words? I think Hadrian’s actions spoke a little louder than Garreth in this novel, which was an interesting suprise.

Boys aside, I was really happy with the flow of this book. It kept the same exciting, no fluff, full of suspense feel that I came to love in Angel Star. I think this might be it for the series right now *sadly sniffs* but I will hold out hope that Jennifer will revisit this world again someday and bring us more in the life of Teagan. I will leave you with the book trailer to try entice you more into reading this series. Enjoy!

Summary from Goodreads.com

My Review: I know this is an older title, but I have just recently discovered this series and have been working my way through it. I have not written reviews for all of them, but I had to write one for this one because it is hands down my favorite one so far!  The first book, Slave to Sensation, does come very close, but this one is my new favorite.  The reason?  The undeniable chemistry between our two main characters, Mercy and Riley.  They have that classic love/hate thing going on and watching it slowly unravel was beyond amazing.  I loved the constant banter between the two of them and found myself laughing out loud numerous times throughout the story.  I also will admit I have become a
sucker for those changelings and since both the main characters in this story
are changelings I was hooked.

One downside to this book?  I want Hawke’s story now!  If you have read this series before than you know exactly who his girl going to be just as much as I do, but watching him suffer through these books makes me just want to read what is going to develop with them that much more.  I think I am subconsciously trying to drag out reading these books because I know I will soon be out of material to read and have to wait until June for Hawke.  *pouts*  I am sure it will be worth it thought, I am beyond excited about it.

Nalini continues to surprise me with her books.  She has a perfect balance of the paranormal, action and romance, so you are never bored and always hungry for more. This series really is absolutely fantastic, I cannot say enough good
things about it, so go find it in your bookstore or download it and start
catching up like me :)
